A well-known international golf destination, the 20 mile Corridor between Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo has seven Championship courses designed by Jack Nicklaus, Robert Trent Jones II, the Dye Corporation, Tom Weiskopf and Tom Fazio. Los Cabos is the fastest growing resort area in Mexico (New York Times April 2004) and is also known for two very different towns, Cabo San Lucas and San Jose del Cabo. San Jose del Cabo (where La Costa is located) is a study in contrasts compared to Cabo San Lucas. San Jose del Cabo with it's many garden patios and traditional 19th century architecture is a low-key experience. Smaller and set a mile inland, with an old fashioned boulevard and many large shade trees, it's a slow paced and easy-going small town. Visit the twin-spire church and the main square, a lovely area for walking or simply sitting and taking a break. The square forms the hub of the downtown historic area, also known as El Centro. Comprised of an intimate handful of streets, it's known for galleries, fine shopping, delicious food and warm hospitality that lends an air of a simpler time to this historic oasis. The beachfront nearby La Costa is perfect for watching the sun come up, or walks at sunset. If relaxing sounds good to you, this is the place. San Jose
also has all the modern facilities you need including; Medical and Dental Clinics,
Banks and ATMs, Internet Cafes and cellular phone providers. English is
spoken in most of the shops and restaurants. And from La Costa, it's
only a quick fifteen-minute walk into town! In San Jose, the 9 hole, par 35 Mayan
Palace, which La Costa borders on, offers a moderately priced alternative to the
big-name golf of the Corridor. A fun and somewhat-challenging course, its part
of the view from La Costa and the clubhouse is within easy walking distance.
For something completely different, explore the estuary, also near La Costa and
perfect for a morning walk. Close by are the fishing camps at both Palmilla and
La Playita, both known for generations of fishing fleets, a very exciting sport
in the fertile waters of Los Cabos.
